On November 19, 2001, the NGO World Toilet Organization was founded by Jack Sim, a philanthropist from Singapore, who declared November 19 as World Toilet Day. In 2013, the UN officially recognized November 19 as World Toilet Day in a bid to make sanitation for all a global development priority. [1]
